Chapter 30 Can't Really Act Cool Anymore
The Blackleaf Elves had different last names.
Only the Royals had the last name Blackleaf, named after the Blackleaf Forest.
This last name was only changed after the Blackleaf Elves moved into the forest.
Back when the Gods' continent was still intact, the last name of this branch of Elven royalty was 'Dawn', which was the same as the first word of the battle energy William was cultivating.
There were many rumors as to why the Elven king chose to change his last name…
Some said that it was related to some secrets in the Blackleaf Forest. Some even said that the Blackleaf forest possessed the sapling of the world tree…
However, the Blackleaf Elves took the initiative to spread the news that the Elven king wanted his descendants to remember the humiliation of leaving the continent. He wanted them to remember that they could only live in the forest now, as well as the humiliation of not being able to appear on the continent.
As for whether they had the intention to rule the continent again, different people had different opinions.
Anyway, Humans still didn't dare to attack the forest that was inhabited by the Elves. Apart from fighting for territory amongst themselves, the Orcs and Devils had given them some trouble too.
Under the rule of the royal family, the Blackleaf Elves rarely appeared in front of humans. The Elven Royal last name was just a legend to many normal people because too few people knew about them.
Elves in many remote areas had even become legends.
There were three Elven kingdoms on the Legendary continent.
The Blackleaf Elves lived in the southern Blackleaf Forest of the continent.
The Moonlight Elves lived in the Moonlight Forest at the center island of the continent.
The Snow Elves lived in the northern Ice Forest of the continent.
There were three kingdoms, three Elven Royal families and each kingdom had millions of Elves.
These pure-blooded Elves were the only Elves left on the Legendary continent. Compared to the Human kingdoms and empires, with a combined population of hundreds of thousands, it was incomparable. This was also one of the reasons the Elves remained hidden.
For Curry to know the last name of the Blackleaf Elven Royalty, it meant that he had come into contact with Elves before and knew some of their secrets.
At this thought, William smiled casually, letting Curry follow him to a corner before he said straightforwardly, "The things you mentioned are nothing. I just want to know if you have the ability to buy slaves. Do you?"
"Slaves?" Curry widened his eyes, unable to stop himself from glancing at William several times. After all, he never knew that pure-blooded Elves were interested in buying slaves as well.
This was because the Elves loved freedom the most. As a result, Elves rarely restricted the freedom of other races and never bought slaves.
William shrugged his shoulders at this, his tone laced with sadness. "I'm buying slaves only because I want to make them peasants again. I want to develop my territory, so I need the manpower.
"If you help me buy slaves, I'll make them peasants straight away. I only hope they stay to help me build my territory. After which, I won't care if they want to leave or stay."
Curry immediately understood the situation and he nodded hurriedly. "Your Honor is so kind. May the Gods always bless you."
He continued confidently, "Of course, what type of slaves does Your Honor want?"
Curry sounded as if he could buy any type of slaves William wanted.
With this, William had no choice but to believe that the merchant teams roaming the Legendary continent had some capability. Amongst which, there was a possibility that someone in the team might be a nobility.
After all, this was a form of training. Many nobles did not want to send their children to become mercenaries or risk their lives by joining adventure teams, so they would put their children into merchant teams. After a few years, those that were able to return to their families alive were basically all smart people..
Of course, those who were thrown out were usually not members of the core families. Otherwise, they were ones despised by the nobles.
Facing Curry, who could be nobility and possibly knew of his identity, William didn't mind puffing himself up to scare him, "Professionals!"
"…" Curry thought for two seconds before he replied, "Sure. How many do you want?"
William also thought for two seconds. "How much are they?"
It was very obvious that William still wanted to continue acting.
"It depends on the age, race, gender, occupation, and their levels. However, most of them are young professionals that have just entered the beginner level…
"Of course, there aren't any Elves or half-blooded Elves. A race as elegant and strong as Elves, definitely won't be slaves. They're meant to be nobles."
Curry was very experienced with this since he had done human trafficking many times. As for his explanation, William couldn't be bothered with it.
Did Curry have any Elven slaves?
He really didn't…
After all, he was from a small dukedom. The traffickers weren't daring enough to go and catch pure-blooded Elves. Otherwise, once the Blackleaf Elves found out, it wouldn't just be revenge on the nobles…
They would wipe out the dukedom straight away!
Because the pure-blooded Elves had stayed hidden in the forest for a very long time, the Humans thought that the Elves had weakened, so they all wanted to bully them.
Suddenly, many pure-blooded Elves disappeared, having been caught by human traffickers and sold to nobles. Amongst these, the female Elven teenagers were the most pitiful…
It was not that the Blackleaf Forest Royalty wouldn't take revenge. Whenever something like this happened, they would definitely choose revenge, and often, those nobles that had taken advantage of their people would die miserably.
However, this sort of warning was nothing to the nobles. There would always be nobles who would secretly order people to conduct such an inhuman transaction again.
Therefore tens of thousands of Elves had been tortured ruthlessly before the Blackleaf Forest Elves finally exploded.
Thirteen Legendary leveled Elves wiped out seven Human dukedoms, three Human kingdoms, and a Human empire within three days.
Millions died.
Since that day, very few people dared to seek trouble at the Blackleaf Forest again…
As for whether the Humans would seek justice for it?
Very few people knew…
Six of the thirteen Legendary Elves passed away one after another. They were buried under the black tree in Dark Night City. Their graves were covered in flowers, their heroic actions were praised by the Elves as their achievement… lived as long as the world.
These sorts of things were neither righteous nor kind. This was a war between races.
To the Blackleaf Elves, the actions of those thirteen Elves were heroic.
But to the innocent Humans that died, they were devils.
William seemed to be recalling something as Curry swallowed, not daring to say another word. He really wanted to slap himself right now, as if angry at himself for speaking nonsense.
This was because he knew about that violent dark history.
And the half-blooded Elven slaves?
There were definitely unlucky half-blooded Elves caught to be slaves.
William sighed deeply. "I want 500 warriors under the age of 25.
"For manufacturing professionals, I want 100 blacksmiths, tailors, jewelers, engineers, and architects.
"I want 3000 of both male and female non-professional slaves aged between 15 and 20 years old!"
"The 500 warriors were originally priced at 50 gold coins each, but since Your Honor is so generous, it'll be 30 gold coins instead.
"The 500 manufacturing professionals are each priced differently, but I will sell them at 20 gold coins each.
"As for the 3000 normal slaves, because they're so young, the lowest price would be 5 gold coins each.
"That's a total of 40000 gold coins. If Your Honor really wants them, I will sell them to you for 38000 gold coins. This is the lowest price I can promise you!"
It was clear Curry was rather experienced with the slave trade. The moment William finished speaking, he had finished calculating the prices. He was so good at it that William couldn't help but feel sorry for those slaves…
The Lord raised an eyebrow. Curry didn't explain much, but this really was the lowest price. If he pushed the price even lower, Curry would be at a loss…
As for mages?
Both of them were tactful enough to not mention any mages. If they did, it wouldn't be buying slaves anymore, they would be buying parents[1.The parents here refer to the mages, as mages were very important and powerful just like a parent.].
However, William didn't say much and merely patted his shoulder. "If you bring those slaves over in seven days, you will take the boxes of gold coins back."
Curry didn't receive the deposit he wanted, but with a glance at William's eyes, he bowed and said, "Pleasure working with you, Your Highness."
William merely smiled and turned to leave after hearing the address.
Curry noted all of this.
The large stone in his heart finally fell into his stomach. He let out a sigh of relief. He had gambled right. This guy in front of him was definitely an Elven prince!
Then, the issue with money…
Was it still a problem?
"Money… is a large issue." William crossed his arms, his eyes turning dull.
