Chapter 40 A Trade Filled with Righteousness and Kindness

The next day.

William woke up to the three bears licking him on his bed…

He waved his hand and threw them away in three consecutive throws, multi-kill!

"Bang, bang, bang!"

With a practiced ease, the three bear cubs were thrown back into their own beds. However, the bear cubs had an extremely strong sense of dependency, so they pouted angrily for a while before they climbed back onto his bed, growling softly.

"Someone come and feed them." William rolled his eyes and sat up. The sun had just risen, and William was extremely infuriated at having to get out of bed.

When he put on his clothes and opened the door, the three maids were already waiting outside.

"My Lord, the cubs are growing really quickly. They will be able to eat meat in a few weeks." One of the maids said.

"Do tell me if there are any expenses. You can feed them now." William nodded and walked out of the room.

He glanced at the workers who had gotten up early and were already busy building. His lips broke into a bright vampirish smile, feeling good.

"My lord!"

"Good morning, my lord!"

"May the Gods' honor always shine on your Honor!" William encountered many newcomers that greeted him politely. All of them were people from the Iron Dukedom and Black Lava Dukedom.

They had come here to work and wanted to settle down here permanently. Thus, they would definitely suck up to William when they met him. Even if they couldn't get the Lord to remember what he looked like, it would be fine as long as they could say something to William.

To this, William nodded lightly to show his friendliness.

However, just by nodding his head, many people were touched. The nobles in the human nations were all too arrogant. With their head stuck high up in the skies and regarding the peasants and slaves as ants, when would they ever react to their greetings?

They only dared to greet him because they had heard that the town Lord was an Elf that was very friendly and kind. Because of this, these newcomers felt that Border Town was already better than the two dukedoms.

The expansion mission continued.

William did not need to do anything. He did not take any of his men on his territory missions either.

As time passed, when the sun shone brightly, William finally saw a large army on the plains as he stood by the cliff.

"Why are there so many people?" Lautner was a little confused. They agreed on 3000 normal slaves and 500 professional slaves. However, the current number was no less than five thousand people. He even found out that there were 500 soldiers guarding this big group!

Or it could be said that the soldiers were there to prevent the slaves from escaping…

"Curry is quite capable." William raised an eyebrow. Slave trade was legal in many human nations!

However, only trading slaves within the country was legal and it was illegal for people to leave that country.

Although the countries did not like slaves to be traded out of the country, the policies and legislation weren't enough to stop this from happening. Everyone liked gold coins.

The nobles within the nations each had different ways of doing things.

William was sure that Curry wasn't the providing merchant. He was merely a middle-man and these slaves were probably provided by a certain great noble.

The mountainous route wasn't an easy climb, but it was the only way, so the group of people had no choice but to climb up the steep cliff with sad expressions.

William had no intention of repairing the roads yet. In fact, he thought that the harder it was to climb this route, the better it was for the safety of the territory.

As Curry arrived at the town with a large group of people behind him, he waved his hand to get those five hundred soldiers to go down the cliff while the town's soldiers went forward to accept the slaves.

Curry glanced at the slightly confused William. He didn't explain first, laughing loudly and heartily instead, "My most respectful Lord, I brought you the men you wanted. What do you think about the quality?"

"Pretty good. They're all strong men and women. However, aren't there too many?" William wasn't too happy, furrowing his eyebrows a little. Was Curry planning to force an unwanted transaction?

However, with just the five hundred soldiers he brought, wasn't he being too confident?

Curry seemed to be able to tell William's confusion. After all, it wasn't a surprise to have small gifts in business, but this was too much.

That was why he invited William to head to a more secluded corner and said straightforwardly, "Your Honor, the extra 2000 normal slaves, and 200 professional slaves are a gift to you!"

William broke into a bright smile, patting his shoulder. "Younger brother!

"Feel free to say everything you want! As an older brother, I'll try to settle it to my best ability!"

The corners of Curry's lips twitched. Was that real?

Is William really older than me?

However, despite Curry's level being higher, he didn't dare to call William brother. He glanced around him, saying carefully, "Your Honor, I do have something to ask of you!"

William nodded immediately, gesturing for him to continue.

"I'm a Viscount in the Black Lava Dukedom. My father is a Duke, but I'm my Father's second son…

"My Father fought in wars for at least a decade in his younger days. As he got older, all of his injuries and body aches came back. Now that his days are limited, I want to inherit his title!"

Curry's words were very direct.

After all, he could tell that this Lord William was a straightforward Elf.

Although this was slightly different from the Elves he remembered, this type of Elf was easier to communicate with.

"You want me to kill your older brother?" William raised an eyebrow.

"Yes. My older brother will come to hunt in Blackleaf Forest in three days' time. This is my only chance and my last chance.

"If I cannot make use of it, once my Father passes away, your Honor will probably never see me again…"

Because of his merchant team, Curry knew many nobles.

However, the scheming and vampire-like greediness amongst nobles was extremely hard to explain. He did not dare to ask for help from them.

Even if a great noble did help him, he would ultimately become a puppet.

"That's not good…" William did not agree to the request immediately. He felt that the plan would work, but he was an Elf after all and his image could not be destroyed right now. He could not act too greedily.

Curry's heart tightened and he immediately said, "5000 normal slaves and 600 professional slaves. This is my gift to Your Honor after I inherit the title."

"That's not right…" William sucked in a deep breath, feeling as though this deal had come too easily.

"6000 normal slaves and 700 professional slaves. This is the most I can promise now. Your Honor doesn't have to be afraid of being targeted by the Black Lava Dukedom if you accept them, I'll manage that.

"The most important thing is that even if I inherit the title, the merchant team will still exist and we will give the best discounts to Your Honor during our deals." Curry had to say that he would rather believe in an Elf than get an assassin.

After all, the Elves' honesty and ability to keep their promises were a known fact across the world.

William's expression was serious as he rubbed his chin and asked, "What if I kill him and you don't give me the slaves?"

"Your Honor must be joking. I'm willing to swear to the Gods and make a Gods' contract!" Curry's smile was very sincere, though laced with a hint of ruthlessness.

"Which God?" William suddenly asked.

"…"

Curry's smile slowly disappeared, as the corners of his lips twitched. "The Light God."

William immediately laughed. "Haha, don't worry anymore. Leave the rest to me.

"Brother Curry, you only need to tell me the location of your brother's hunting. There will be no problems.

"After all, as a righteous and kind Elf, I really hate that the older brother about to inherit the Duke title is actually a heartless and discourteous person."

"I'll depend on Your Honor then." Curry's heart ached a little, though he still nodded. After all, slaves were a lot cheaper than gold coins in his eyes.

The benefits of the slave trade were unimaginable.

It was so simple to get slaves that it was hard to believe…
