Chapter 63 Equipment And Internal Testing
In the game, many types of enchantment techniques existed.
And two of them were very common.
The first one was a type of enchantment technique that could be cast by a mage, and it endowed the equipment with a permanent special effect!
The special effect could be - increase in attack power, defense power, attributes or special skills.
The other common enchantment was embedding certain magical items on the equipment. The items could be precious stones, rock crystal and scales
William wanted the first enchantment.
"Hey, this is for you." Moses emotionlessly threw the equipment over to William.
William smiled and caught the equipment. He looked at the attributes and could not stop laughing heartily.
Moses glanced at him and said bluntly, "Are you done looking? Make way once you're done. There are others in the queue too."
"Hey, I want another set of equipment enchanted. It must enhance the attack, and no need for a defense bonus. The enchantment must have a thunder attribute too!" William took out another set of golden equipment…
Moses stared in astonishment.
William was merely an Intermediate professional, but he had two sets of Gold-quality equipment! And he wanted to enchant one set for defense and the other for attack?
Was he that well-off?
Was he that spendthrift?
His family must be really wealthy!
Moses grumbled in his thoughts. He took up the equipment and started the enchantment.
In less than 30 seconds…
Yes, it wasn't a mistake, 30 seconds.
It was that fast.
Moses had completed his enchantment!
He glanced at William.
William acknowledged it with his nodding. "I understand, I understand. I'll make a move first. Beer tomorrow, my treat!"
William departed, and the fortune-telling hut was left completely filled with Elves…
William had not wasted his efforts in maintaining good relations with Moses as Moses did not decline his requests for enchantments.
Though it had cost quite a fortune, he had also given the bored Moses some work to do.
"Ooo, my mum has been telling me since I was young that one should not waste time. We have to spend our limited time on meaningful things. Things like… serving the City of Dawn to make it stronger," William rambled.
He returned to the hut and took out all his equipment. He wanted to feel how powerful they had become!
Two sets of equipment.
A set of armor for the battlefield.
Another for light skirmishes in the wilderness.
The two sets of equipment were of Gold-quality. William's family was rich so he could afford them.
As for the Elven guards, though their defensive equipment was of Silver-quality, their weapons were of Gold-quality!
And William's weapon was of Dark-Gold quality!
It was hard to obtain weapons and equipment with the same set attributes…
"Currently, even though the levels and skills of my 500 Elven guards are not high enough, they all have reached the mid-level professional limit." William had not been able to upgrade the equipment of his guards to Gold-quality as the expenses were beyond his means.
He had exhausted the few hundred kilograms of mythril that he had stockpiled. Also, he had spent a fortune in Blue Moon Town to buy some golden dust, adamantine crystals and other rare materials.
Adamantine was a rare material that could enhance a piece of equipment to Gold-quality. Its value was almost on par with mythril.
William had not sold his mythril for two months so that he could produce enough Silver-quality equipment sets.
A complete equipment set included five components, helmet, breastplate, gauntlets, leg guards and shoes.
As for the newly enchanted equipment sets of William, one was called Light equipment set while the other was called Thunder equipment set.
The attributes of the Light equipment set were as follows:
[Helmet of Light]
[Quality: Gold]
[Level: Intermediate]
[Creator: Lautner and Odom Heavyhammer]
[Materials: Mythril, Haematite, Adamantine.]
[Head Defense: 130-160]

[Physical Strength: +12]
[Charm: +5]
[Weight: 0.9kg]
[Usage Requirement: 130 points of power]

[Special Effect: Health +400]
[Enchantment: Basic Defense +40]
[Set Equipment (helmet, breastplate, gauntlets, leg guards, shoes) Special Effect: Overall defense and health +20%]
It could not be helped.
Each piece of a standalone Gold-quality equipment was already very powerful.
The set equipment bonuses were extremely exhilarating. Defenses and Health Points were increased by 20%…
But, it was not to be forgotten!
These defense points were not cumulative. The helmet was for protecting just the head while the breastplate was for shielding only the upper torso.
The defenses of the five pieces of equipment were independent and could not be added together. That was correct… it was that realistic and logical…
Only the bonuses of the set equipment could increase the overall defense.
William's defenses were astonishingly high.
He wanted to have the set with the thickest armor so that he could sustain the heaviest damage.
He wanted to make full use of the traits of a Legendary BOSS. He wanted to be a BOSS who would not bat an eyelid even when a normal soldier slashed him a hundred times.
The attributes of the Thunder equipment set were as follows:
[Helmet of Thunder]
[Quality: Gold]
[Level: Intermediate]
[Creator: Lautner and Odom Heavyhammer]

[Full Five-piece Set Special Effect: Chain lightning]
[Skill Special Effect: When the thunder battle energy is used, there is a 30% chance of two effects taking place. One, the creation of a lightning chain which affects all the enemies within a meter radius. And the other, causing a thunder attack of X80% with chain damage.]
[Skill Cooldown Time: 20 seconds.]
[Skill Consumption: Nil]
"It's so powerful that I can become the Thunder God. It's time for the golden-haired Odom to retire." William licked his lips.
The Thunder equipment set was powerful due to its bonuses of thunder attribute and attack. It allowed him to inflict devastating damages and reduce the defenses and Health Points of his enemies.
The thunder attack of the five-piece equipment set was 170 with another 130 cumulative points of thunder attack from the battle energy, taking the total to 300.
Meanwhile, the thunder attack damage bonus was 48%, and there was the bonus 10 % due to the thunder endowment. So, the cumulative thunder damage was 58%!
In the initial gaming period, most of the gamers did not possess resistance against the elements. To them, he was the human incarnation of a Thunder Dragon!
He would create sparks and lightning along his warpath, powerful and unstoppable.
"If I can have my instance dungeon and the potion for thunder resistance, what I could do will be unimaginable…" William glanced at his three newly-acquired Dark-Gold-quality weapons.
He could not help but think. "I have to say that these weapons indeed look awesome…"
The Sword of Dawn which had now become the Dark-Gold-quality Sword of Thunder, gained huge increases in attributes and attack strength. It even had one more additional special effect now. Overall, however, there were not many changes.
His two other weapons, though, showed massive changes.
Their attributes now were…
[Lightning Bow]
[Quality: Dark gold]
[Level: Intermediate]
[Creator: Lautner and Odom Heavyhammer]

[Agility: +16]
[Charm: +6]

[Weigh: 2.8kg]

[Special Effect: Each arrow has a 20% bonus to create thunder damage.]
[Special Effect Skill: Rain of Thunder Arrows!

[Effect: Inflict 350+ (Thunder attack X180%) thunder damage.]
[Cooldown time: 20 seconds]
[Consumption: 200 points of battle energy.]
One of the most critical things was…
With the numerous arrows in the Rain of Thunder Arrows, there was a high chance the arrows could trigger the Chain Lightning of the set equipment. It was a good way to kill large numbers of monsters.
[Poisonous Short Sword]
[Quality: Dark gold]
[Level: Intermediate]
[Creator: Lautner and Odom Heavyhammer]
[Materials: Mythril, Haematite, Adamantine crystal]
[Attack power: 270~460]

[Special Effect: The wounded enemy will suffer poison damage of 200 Health Points per second, and there will be a reduction of 10% in overall body attributes that will last for 10 seconds. (This is not a cumulative effect)]
"The special effects are not cumulative. The previous special effects have to wear out first before the short sword can inflict new special effect damages." William squinted his eyes. His overall prowess was astonishing.
William had wanted a poisonous short sword to weaken his enemies. Poisonous weapons could cause time-limited poison damage and weaken the enemy simultaneously.
With all these equipment upgrades, William had now become a powerful BOSS among the Intermediate professionals.
With his powerful equipment, he had the ability to face off with the Advanced professionals and kill the Intermediate professionals.
"The most pleasant surprise is the upgrade of the Epic inner armor." William laughed to himself.
[Love's Blessing]

[Level: Intermediate]
[Type: A piece of defense equipment that can be upgraded.]
[Composition: Mithril, A leaf from the World Tree and Golden dust.]
[Maker: Alice Blackleaf]

[Upgrade Criteria: The inner armor will be automatically upgraded once the user becomes an Advanced professional and places 1 kilogram of mythril, 1 kilogram of Gold dust and 1 kilogram of orichalcum on the armor.]
William could not resist laughing arrogantly as he put on his Thunder equipment set. "With such powerful pieces of equipment, I will make my enemies cry in despair!"
"I have Health Points of 12,140 that are way beyond 10,000, and that is excluding the bonuses of my Legendary bloodline. It's more than three times higher than the gamers of the same level. With my devastating attack and the astonishing defense…" William could not resist laughing complacently.
"Thump, thump!"
"Come in!"
Sia had heard the sinister laugh of the Lord. She pushed open the door but did not enter.
Of course, she peeped in with her chest showing.
William glanced quickly at her and asked curiously, "What's up?"
"The emissaries of the Temple of Light, Palace of Darkness and Mercenary Guild are here," Sia softly said, as she stood by the door.
"Oh! Why are they here?" William stood up and walked outside the room.
"They said that the addresses of the branch buildings were too desolate. They wanted to discuss whether the locations could be changed!" Sia was also curious. These three powerful neutral forces had a say in almost any city.
She had not expected the Lord to build their branches at the city boundary. It was pretty far from the commercial area, and hence there was a lack of people.
William interrupted her. "Impossible! Unless they are willing to pay, I won't allow a change of location. I gave them land at the city boundary to build their branches for free. If they aren't happy, they can leave.
Tell them, each square meter of land in the city center costs at least 1,000 gold coins."
Sia counted with her fingers and opened her eyes widely in shock. She looked at the Lord in disbelief.
"Then 100 square meters of land will cost… 100,000 gold coins. My lord, if the land is so valuable, can we not reap some profits. My lord, can you provide us with some materials to do magic research?" Sia blinked her eyes that were emitting golden rays. It was as if those eyes were full of shiny gold coins.
William coughed lightly and replied, "You are overthinking. Nobody is buying!"
"…" A black line appeared on Sia's forehead, and she asked, "My lord, why are you selling at such an exorbitant price then?"
"You'll understand my reason in the future."
"In the future…. Oh!" Sia nodded. Then she went off to convey the message to the emissaries.
William watched Sia sway her buttocks as she left. Even though he felt that she was a bimbo, her magical talent was top-notch. She was very focused on researching magic.
Mages were rare in the City of Dawn.
There were 10 Elven mages who accompanied William. Then 50 more mages had joined him. Twenty three of the mages were Intermediate while the rest were Beginners.
In general, unemployed mages would normally join a powerful organization.
It was either Magic Sanctuary or the Magic Guild.
Otherwise, they could be like these mages who joined the City of Dawn and serve under the command of William.
William provided the money for them to research magic.
Otherwise, if a mage wanted to earn money, she had to sacrifice her body…
"With more than 60 mages, the monthly research expenses amount to more than 600 gold coins. How can anyone afford such huge expenses?" William wanted to grumble, but for an NPC mage to level up, they required research of magic materials, meditation and consumption of the flesh of magical beasts.
Combat was not very helpful in leveling up the mages.
Hence, powerful mages were trained using gold coins.
Time flew by very fast.
William worked very hard for the city construction, until one day, when an incident occurred.
[Ding dong]
[The 12-day internal testing of 'Gods' has commenced]
