Chapter 7 Spirit Enhancement I
Zhou Chen turned and walked deeper into the corridor. Just as he was about to search the next room, he suddenly felt a movement behind him.
He immediately turned around and found that the door to the room he had given up on had been quietly opened. A male zombie holding a baseball bat was bending over and walking out, preparing to ambush him from behind.
"What the f*ck, it actually put up an ambush. But you're too impatient."
Zhou Chen felt that this zombie was a little smarter than the others, but it was just a little. If it waited until he walked further before launching a sneak attack, the chances of success would be higher.
He raised the shovel and charged forward, ruthlessly smashing it towards the zombie's head. The zombie was indeed a little smart. It raised its baseball bat to block Zhou Chen's attack.
It was quite strong, and Zhou Chen was unable to suppress it immediately.
However, Zhou Chen kicked its knee, making it lose its balance. Then, while it was tilting to the side, he used the shovel to hit its head. After a few hits, the zombie who was using a weapon lost its life.
[Passive Plunderer triggered: You have plundered the zombie's passive skill "Spirit Enhancement I". Do you want to absorb?]
"Absorb!"
Zhou Chen roughly understood its use when he heard the name of this passive skill. He immediately chose to absorb it.
Then, he opened his character interface and saw that the passive skill's effect was similar to what he had expected. It gave him 0.4 Spirit .
"My head seems to have become much sharper, I can even vaguely sense the situation within a few meters."
After obtaining this passive skill, Zhou Chen felt that his strength had increased greatly. Although his combat strength had not changed, his perception of the outside world had become much stronger. For example, he could confirm that there were no more zombies in the room he had abandoned earlier, but there was a mutilated body inside.
"This wonderful feeling can probably be considered a superpower."
The spirit attribute of 1.6 made Zhou Chen feel that he had surpassed the level of an ordinary person. It gave him a sixth sense to sense his surroundings.
After entering the room, Zhou Chen realized that there was indeed a mutilated body on the ground. It was the body of a white male. Its head was broken, and half of its body had been bitten off. It was most likely caused by the baseball bat zombie he had killed earlier.
After confirming that the corpse on the ground was only a corpse and not a zombie, Zhou Chen walked past it.
There was a refrigerator in the room. Because the power had stopped working, there was a rotten smell coming from inside the refrigerator. This smell was different from the smell of corpses outside, so he could tell.
"There is no zombie in this fridge."
Zhou Chen walked closer to the refrigerator and determined that there was no danger inside.
He opened the fridge and found that there were indeed no monsters hiding inside, but the hamburgers, milk, steak, and other food inside had completely rotted, making him feel regretful.
"Looks like I have to find a place with electricity to find food…"
He realized that it would not be easy for him to find something to eat. If he did not find a building with electricity, he would most likely only find rotten food, unless he found some dry or packaged food in good condition.
He turned and pulled out some tissues from a box on the bed. He put some in his pocket and some in his hand. He then walked out of the room and picked up the zombie's baseball bat. He wiped it carefully with the tissue and changed into this new weapon.
The attack power of a baseball bat might not be stronger than a shovel, but it was easier to use than a shovel, and it was not that heavy. Therefore, Zhou Chen chose to replace his weapon.
As for the shovel, Zhou Chen did not throw it away. He placed the shovel under the bed in the room.
He felt like he might come back to this room because the door lock was intact. It was safer to lock the door and hide inside. It could be used to spend the night.
Zhou Chen quickly searched the building and left.
The situation in this building was similar to what he had expected. There were some zombies hiding in the house, and there was no edible food.
Then, he quietly searched the nearby buildings for a while and found that there was no electricity in them which meant that the foods he found were rotten.
"Do I really have to starve for the next few days?"
Zhou Chen felt a little troubled. Three days of hunger was not life-threatening for a young man like him, but it would be quite uncomfortable. It would also affect his combat strength, making it even more dangerous when he encountered an emergency later on.
Zhou Chen quietly wandered around the city area, occasionally using the baseball bat to kill a few zombies blocking the way. Before long, he arrived at a place that seemed to be a police station.
He was quite excited because he might be able to find firearms here. If he could obtain them, his combat strength would increase greatly.
However, Zhou Chen soon gave up on this idea.
He realized that not only were there many zombies in the police station, some of them were even walking around with firearms. Clearly, they knew how to use firearms.
He did not want to test if there were bullets in the zombie's gun barrels.
"This police station seems to be even harder to deal with than the supermarket. I cannot act rashly."
Soon, he left the police station and found a small mall-like building.
There were lights in the building. Clearly, the electricity was on, and there were sounds of fighting coming from inside.
"Could it be the Survivor who left first?"
Zhou Chen immediately made a judgment. He quietly walked into the small shopping mall and saw a male Survivor standing on a shelf, waving an iron rod to knock down the zombies that were charging at him.
"It's really him. This person has created a good deal for me…"
Seeing this opportunity, Zhou Chen directly entered the small store and began to search for available food on the shelves.
However, along the way, he realized that many shelves were either empty or collapsed. He could not find any useful food. Moreover, there were no freezers in this small store, so he could not find frozen food.
"The food is on the shelf under my feet! Help me deal with these zombies! I'll give you half!"
At this moment, the young man who was fighting zombies on the shelf in the corner had noticed Zhou Chen who had quietly entered. He shouted at him.
Zhou Chen charged over with the baseball bat.
He agreed so quickly not because he was warm-hearted, but because the young man's shout had already made some zombies discover him and charge at him.
Fortunately, most of the zombies continued to focus on the young man on the shelf, so Zhou Chen could manage to deal with the few that were attacking him.
But even if the situation changed, he could still turn and escape. It was not a problem.
