Chapter 76 A Special Day
One day on her second year at the academy.
It was a peaceful ordinary day, but it was definitely a special day for Razé. After confirming that Lord Moldir had took Folia away after school, Razé teleported back to her room.
“Alright!” She left her room and went to the public kitchen in the dormitories. She saw Carna wearing an apron there.
Razé: “Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Carna: “How is it?”
Razé: “As planned! Target has been captured by our partner!”
Carna: “Okay. Let’s start our work!”
Razé: “Yes!”
Razé put on the apron she received from Carna and then rolled her sleeves up. It was time to start cooking.
Carna had leveled up her cooking skills with regular practice making cookies for Ruben. She started to bake a cake like a professional patisserie. She baked a moist and fluffy sponge, applied a generous amount of white cream around it, and decorated it with bright red strawberries.
Next to her, Razé Granoli poured alcohol into the pan to flambé the food elegantly. She lived alone when she worked at the military. She liked to cook during her spare time. She made some simple salad, soup and tomato stewed fish. She seemed full of sense of accomplishment.
Razé: “Perfect!”
Carna saw the flame rising from the pan and shouted, “Hey, you gave me a fright!”
Razé: “Oops. Sorry!”
Carna: “I’m fine. You’re good at cooking too.”
“Because I like eating. I’ve tried lots of recipes to make delicious food,” Razé said with a smile. Now that she had money, she could buy many types of ingredients for her cooking and tried many recipes. But when she was on a long-term mission, she had limited ingredients and had to work harder to make delicious food.
I even barged into the military commissariat.
She recalled the time that she went to make a complaint at the military commissariat after losing her patience. Of course, she could use apport to bring ingredients from her home but she couldn’t think of herself only. She might manage to secretly enjoy the meals with her team, but she needed to consider other battalions so she had to make do with the ration provided.
Eating was the motivation of her life, so she went to demand for a better treatment. It was thanks to her memories from the previous life that she managed to continue her military life without being discouraged by the hardships.
But I never thought that I would receive a mission like this. It’s worth it, Razé thought as she served the finished dishes on the plates.
Razé: “I’ve finished my dishes.”
Carna: “I only need to finish the cake decoration.”
Razé: “Okay. Then I’ll go take a look at the room first.”
Carna: “Alright.”
Razé teleported to the communal room in the dormitory that they had booked. When she entered the room, she saw Luca and Claude giving direction to Ian.
Luca: “It’s crooked, Ian!”
Ian: “Huh? This way?”
Claude: “No, to the left.”
“So nice!” Razé said with bright eyes as she looked at the beautifully decorated room.
“!!” The members were frightened by her voice when she suddenly appeared out of thin air. Claude pushed his glasses and said, “You scared me…”
“I’m sorry,” Razé said with a smile. She put down the dishes that she had brought for tasting. “Can you help me to taste the food?”
She had done extensive research for this day. She also received help from the dining hall staffs to purchase the necessary ingredients. She felt that the dishes shouldn’t be that bad and watched the three guys with anticipation.
Ian was the first one who tasted the food without any hesitation. Razé watched his reaction closely, utilizing her observation skills cultivated in the military.
Ian: “This is so good!! Did you really make it yourself?!”
Razé was glad that he didn’t frown his face. “Yes, I made it myself. I’m glad you like it.” She was relieved that she didn’t need to go and get some food from the dining hall.
Ian: “Razé-san, you can cook too? You’re really good at everything.”
Luca: “That’s not true. She’s bad at art.”
Razé was glad that Luca didn’t say that her cooking was bad.
Luca: “I thought you can’t cook since you’re bad at creative work. Looks like I guessed wrong.”
Razé laughed at his remarks. “I’m not good at art, not creative work. For food plating techniques, I can just copy other samples. Art is abstract, so it’s hard for me to guess the right answer.”
This topic reminded her of their art teacher. She cleared her mind and said, “It’s almost time! Let’s finish the preparation quickly.”
A while after, Ruben and Adis came and joined them to prepare the room.
Carna: “It’s perfect.”
Razé: “Great. Then I’ll go and bring her here. You guys please standby!”
She teleported to the meeting place that she had confirmed with Lord Moldir.
“The person to pick you up is already here.” Zale’s voice echoed in the quiet chapel.
Folia was puzzled. “Huh?” She followed his line of sight and spotted Razé walking towards her.
Razé stood next to the bench where Folia and Lord Moldir was sitting. “It’s getting dark. I’m here to pick you up.” She took Folia hand and teleported to the room where the other members were waiting.
Razé: “Sorry to keep you waiting!”
“Huh?!” Folia was surprised to see all sort of balloons with the same color as her green eye.
The members popped the party poppers when they saw the main character had arrived. Then everyone shouted: “Happy Birthday!!”
Folia froze in confusion as she tried to process the situation. Razé came to her with a present. Folia finally understood what was going on. She took the present and hugged Razé. “Thank you!” She seemed like she was about to cry.
Razé: “Uwah!”
Folia: “I’m so happy~!! Thank you!!”
Razé felt her chest tightened when she saw that Folia had really cried.
It was a peaceful day, an ordinary school life. It was the first birthday party that Razé had prepared for her friend since she joined this academy. It was an important friend, a kind-hearted girl that grew up in an orphanage who was like an angel to her.
Razé: “It’s me who should say thank you. Thank you for everything.”
For Razé, it was definitely a special day.
