S1 Book 4 Chapter 2
“Based on initial examination, the young miss you sent over died due to…the back of her head being completely banged up. I’ll report the details to you after the dissection,” Yan Si said to the person putting on some gauze. Yan Si then yawned and held out the freshly printed autopsy report as he reached for coffee.
“Back of her head?” Yu Xia had originally thought it would be somewhere else, since the female had been lying on her back at the scene, and her whole body had been covered with wounds. He had not tried to flip the body over, so he hadn’t noticed any injuries on the back.
“That’s right. And my guess would be that she quickly discovered the perpetrator and first resisted, thus generating various wounds from self-defense. The other person then grabbed onto her hair and slammed her head on the wall…her scalp has some pulling tears. Then, the opponent grabbed her face to smash her skull into the wall, inflicting the fatal injury. In addition, she has several fractures in her lower jaw and neck. Judging from the injuries, the murderer should be male, and quite strong. It doesn’t seem to be a result of a robbery. She must have murdered an entire family, including their dog and cat, and decimated their family’s anthills or something for the murderer to be this cruel,” Yan Si coolly said while passing the report over.
“That’s hard to say…”
Yu Xia was leaning against the table in the resting room with his arms crossed. Actually, the modes of recent crime were way beyond human imagination. Sometimes it wasn’t even a robbery. Just standing on the side of the road could end up as being unsightly to some random person, and result in being slaughtered.
He had just recently accepted a case where a group of youths had gone out for night-swimming. After walking over to the shore and entering the water to play, one of them ended up being stabbed to death by some random passerby.
As if harboring a deep hatred, the perpetrator had mercilessly slashed him several times, to the point where the neck was nearly chopped off. Only a thin layer of skin had remained, and the beach had been covered in blood. The youth had died like that on the spot, as there was absolutely no way to rescue him.
When Yu Xia later investigated, he discovered the ridiculous reason for the killing. The murderer hadn’t known the victim at all. However, the victim was just unlucky. The perpetrator that day had just gone through a breakup and was looking at the ocean. As the group of youths passed by for their night swim, he thought that the victim was provoking him with what he assumed was a mocking expression. And that was it.
Human thoughts and self-control were being eaten away by the creatures of the darkness.
“Boss, was your ear also injured?”
Yan Si interrupted the other person’s thoughts after staring at him for a while. He then pointed to the right ear.
“No, I don’t feel anything.” Yu Xia turned to look into the resting room’s small mirror and saw that there really was a thin line of scarlet on the edge of his right ear. It was even still oozing a bit of red. “Was probably brushed by a broken brick shard. Don’t pay it any mind.” This kind of injury would disappear in one or two days anyways.
Yan Si, who still had work to do, shrugged and tossed the empty pitcher into the recycling bin. It let out a loud thud. “Ah! That’s right, do you still remember the guy from the loans company last time, something Qi…?”
“Who?”
“The related person from the lottery ticket grand prize case.”
“Forgot, why?” Yu Xia had no idea why this person was suddenly brought up. He suspiciously asked, “Wasn’t that case closed?”
“Oh, it was closed. But I recently saw your older brother talking to him downstairs. They probably kept in contact afterwards.”
Two days ago, Yan Si had just happened to bump into the two people secretly discussing something on the first floor. However, since it had nothing to do with him, he hadn’t bothered to run over and eavesdrop for no reason.
Yu Xia nodded to indicate he would keep an eye out. After Yan Si walked out, Yu Xia stayed in the resting room to toss the snack bag. He grabbed the report and prepared to bring it back to his office first.
Upon opening the door, a sullen Jiu Shen just happened to be rushing over, and nearly sent him flying.
“Are you looking for a beating?” Yu Xia dodged the other person’s strike and narrowed his eyes.
Jiu Shen had a depressed expression on his face as if the world was ending. He passed over the bag in his hand, then seriously declared, “Boss, I want to take tomorrow off…”
“What?” Yu Xia opened the bag and saw that it contained all of the photos from the on-site investigation today. He swiftly took them out and flipped through them.
“I want to go get my spirit recovered. I just called my mom to ask which place would be most effective for me to go and request a peace charm.” Otherwise, he would really end up going insane because of work.
Yu Xia held up a photo to whack it down at the other person’s head, causing them to give a loud yelp.
“Request, my ass. If you’re that free, scram and go back to work!”
Recover what spirit? The ones that need to recover their spirits are probably the officers that run around outside every day!
Jiu Shen rubbed his head and retreated a step back, dejected about enduring his boss’s attack, and then said his reason for having no choice but to seek help to get his spirit recovered: “I developed a paranormal photo…Boss, why don’t you get your spirit recovered too? Otherwise, things may not end up well…” Last time it was a cellphone, this time it was a paranormal photo. He really had no idea when he had wronged anyone to the point where all these problematic cases had to pass through him. Wouldn’t it be perfect if someone else did it? He didn’t want this kind of crazy experience!
Yu Xia flipped the photos his colleague was denouncing and quickly saw the so-called “paranormal photo”.
He wasn’t sure when such a photo had been taken, but he guessed it was probably when the officer passing him the camera had jumped in shock and accidentally pressed the button.
The photo just happened to have been taken the moment right before the brick had crashed down on him.
“Here,” Jiu Shen said in fear as he pointed at the upper region of the photo.
Yu Xia looked at the area. Because the camera hadn’t actually been focused then, the picture was a bit blurry. However, he could still clearly see the half a head sticking out from behind the wall, as if secretly peeping. Its black eyes that reflected specks of gray were locked straight onto the him in the photo.
Perhaps because the camera had been moving, the bottom half of that person’s figure was different from Yu Xia, as it was slightly blurred. It was as if it was decomposing, with the edges having diffused the strongest.
“You are to instantly go and see if anyone left behind traces there.”
Yu Xia instinctively gave this command immediately.
They had actually managed to overlook someone hiding at the scene of the crime!
“But Boss, you were also there at the time; there was absolutely nobody behind the wall!”
Jiu Shen sullenly reminded him of this fact. “Moreover, we had already sealed off the scene, there’s no way a person could have hid over there to secretly peek in.” Why was his superior such a realist? If Ah Yin had seen this kind of photo, he definitely would’ve praised it by saying, “Right, that’s a paranormal photo. Let me send it to a supernatural activity program and earn some remunerations!”
“Nothing is absolutely impossible. Get someone to go and look another time. Also, have you done too many shameful deeds? You are not allowed to use the excuse of “recovering spirit” to take leave. If you aren’t sick or severely injured, you had better go back to work this instant. If I don’t see you tomorrow, you are dead meat.” Yu Xia once again displayed his publicly known ferocity as he glared at his subordinate.
…Can I not take leave for mental disabilities?
Although Jiu Shen thought this, he didn’t have the guts to voice it out loud. Instead, he just sadly left the resting room while debating whether he should ask someone to help him do his work in the morning so that he could still sneak off to get his spirit recovered.
After watching his subordinate leave the resting room, Yu Xia suddenly noticed another strange thing in the photo that even Jiu Shen had not caught.
In the photo, a short black line was streaking across his ear.
He rubbed his right ear, which still had a cut.
“Hmph!”
Yu Xia stowed the photo away, not caring about it anymore.
***
There was interference in his cellphone signal.
Yu Yin stopped his motorbike at a place close to home and took off his safety helmet to study the blinking “no signal” symbol. He suddenly wondered if there were possibly any illegally constructed receivers or anything nearby…
“Weird, did something happen around here today?” He noticed the police cars passing by. Because of his curiosity and the fact that he was born and raised in a family of cops, he really wanted to go and see what was going on.
But Uncle has been keeping a very close eye on me recently, so it would be better to not stir up any trouble…
As Yu Yin was thinking this, he steered his bike to the side to get out of the way. A young man he didn’t know walked over from the side and nearly crashed into his bike.
The person seemed somewhat distracted, as he walked off without a word of apology.
“Ah Yin!”
Just as he was about to shout out after the person to be more careful, a very familiar voice came from the alley next to him, interrupting his action. Yu Yin reflexively turned to look and, as expected, saw someone he knew waving at him.
Although Uncle told me not to look for any trouble, I don’t think he said that trouble couldn’t find me?
“Jiu Shen-Gē, did something happen around here?” Typically, if this person was around, something had definitely gone wrong. Most of the cases assigned to his uncle were more serious incidents like murders, fire weapons, robberies, etc., so… Yu Yin quickly forgot about chasing after the person from earlier; moreover, they had already turned the corner and disappeared from sight. He couldn’t be bothered to do something as pointless as chasing after them.
“A female corpse was found in that alley this morning. We are currently doing a second inspection.” Jiu Shen, who had been dispatched with several other colleagues, could only shrug and helplessly say, “It’s great that Ah Yin is also here. Give me a hand…I actually developed a paranormal photo today, but as you know, your uncle’s personality is…hehe…”
Rather than trying to request for something from his boss and end up in pain, it was better and faster to request something from his boss’s son.
“Paranormal photo?”
After hearing the police investigator give a general explanation of the events that had occurred today, Yu Yin thought about it for a bit before getting off his motorbike and stopping it by the road to lock it. “Don’t tell Uncle that I came here…otherwise, he’ll definitely chop off my head.” Actually, he didn’t think it would even be as simple as cutting off his head. It was more likely that he would end up landing in an even more miserable state.
“That’s not a problem.” Jiu Shen, who really did not want go behind that wall, patted Yu Yin’s shoulder happily. “Jiu Shen-Gē will treat you to a meal later, it is getting late after all. We can invite Xiao Yu to come out together with us too!” This is great. Having half a yin-yang eye is better than having none at all. At least Ah Yin will be able to flee a distance away if he sees anything there.
Jiu Shen, who had no resistance to anything unscientific, thanked the heavens from the bottom of his heart for giving him the chance to escape from this supernatural phenomenon by sending him a sign through a helper.
He definitely did not want to bump into “that thing” without even knowing. Just the thought of it was horrifying.
In reality, the scene of the death wasn’t far from them, and after walking a few steps forward and turning the corner, they arrived. Just as it had been when it was first discovered this morning, the yellow tapes were still up. Aside from Jiu Shen, there were two other police officers currently heading over to the wall with nobody there to examine it. Another officer was maintaining the situation outside to prevent some inquisitive citizen from running in and disrupting their work.
For some reason, even though it was just a single death, it had attracted many people with nothing better to do. Were people these days really just that bored?
When Yu Yin saw the bloodstains in the alley, he found it easy to imagine that there had been a person who had lost their breath of life lying here that morning, someone that could no longer protest against the onlookers that would point in their direction or be frightened away.
“Xu Ru Xian. Miss Xu’s family members have already come by this morning to confirm her identity. However, her family members didn’t really know her friendships situation. On another note, we’ve found that the young salesperson missus at a certain cosmetics brand store, as well as the victim’s coworkers, all said pretty good things about the victim. It doesn’t seem like she’s had any episodes with people before, so we’re still closely investigating…and we haven’t ruled out the possibility of it being a random murder.” Jiu Shen stepped over the yellow tape and tossed a pair of gloves at the person who he had spontaneously dragged here. The other officer working outside also recognised Yu Yin. Everyone nodded in mutual understanding without saying a word.
Behind the wall was the empty single-story house that had already pretty much wasted away. The darkening sky gave this place an eerie feeling. Originally, there were still the buzzing sounds of bugs to be heard, but upon getting closer and closer to this house, the surroundings became dead silent. Only a few remaining bugs were nimbly leaping around in the grass, leaving behind marks of hasty escape.
The sky was a bit grey.
He hated coming to these kinds of places the most. And he was certain that something bad would happen in this moment when day and night intertwined.
“There are no traces of anyone coming through this place. But it was captured in the photo, so your uncle wants us to search this place again.” Jiu Shen scanned the area again, having been here ages ago, and let out a deep sigh.
The moment they had walked in earlier, they had known that there was nobody here. Aside from the weeds, all that was left was the garbage littered across the ground. The dense foliage showed no signs of a person having crossed it.
After going back and giving this report, their boss would definitely not believe it and come charging over here himself.
“Just go back and tell Uncle: ‘Reporting to commanding officer, there was only a trace of a ghost having passed by. Because there is no actual evidence, it must have stayed here as its original home.'” Based on this kind of environment, the only way of crossing over had to be by floating.
“Stop joking, he would definitely have my head,” Jiu Shen protested. He glanced at the university student next to him, as he still wanted to live. It wasn’t like he had only been with Yu Xia for one or two days; he obviously knew his boss’s extremely explosive and straightforward temperament, which could be considered both a strength and a weakness.
Yu Yin shrugged and pulled the grass apart to walk to the end of the wall.
Actually, the officers had already flipped through here once earlier. The weeds had been trampled all over the place, so he walked through it pretty quickly. The many bugs were a bit annoying, and he didn’t know if there were snakes or not.
“There’s nothing here.” Yu Yin looked all around but didn’t find anything strange. Obviously, that included things from the “other side”. “It was probably just passing by? There is nothing suspicious here…”
He surveyed the wall. It was slightly taller than his head level. Early phase enclosures were typically not piled very high. As an anti-theft measure, above the wall were iron wires with broken glass shards. He just had to be a bit more careful to not get injured by it.
As he thought this, he noticed some old bricks on the ground. They were pretty much the same grey color as the ones on the wall and had probably been left behind after building it. Since they were cheap and looked as if they were meant to be stepped on, Yu Yin stepped onto the bricks to peer over the wall. From here, he could see the crime scene on the other side.
A woman was looking at him from outside.
Yu Yin hadn’t expected anyone to be outside the wall, so he was momentarily stunned. However, he soon understood that this wasn’t a “person”.
She was squatting above the pile of junk at the end of the alley. Her originally fairly good-looking face was covered with black and red streaks. Her red and purple skin was writhing about and her vein-filled eyeballs were staring straight at him.
“Ah Yin…?”
Jiu Shen’s voice suddenly seemed a bit distant.
As Yu Yin looked at that woman, he heard another abnormal noise. The woman crouched on the pile of junk opened her mouth, and he could see the purple-black liquid inside her black lips glinting with an odd light. An indistinct croak like that of a toad or frog was coming from her throat.
Gurgle… It was as if she was choking on something, unable to speak.
She tried to spit something out, but only managed to choke out a small bit of black water before continuing to make that hair-raising noise from before.
Yu Yin unconsciously swallowed hard. The setting sun was seemingly blocked so that it could not shine its rays on the pile of trash. The entire back half of the alley was enshrouded by shadows, as if crossing over this wall and its iron wires led to a different world.
He felt pure malice.
“Are you Ah Yu’s older brother?”
Just as Yu Yin and that woman were having a staredown and he was unable to break away, the voice of a girl that did not belong to any of the police on site pierced through the standstill. He immediately returned to his senses, and when he looked in the direction of the trash again, the thing squatting over it had vanished from sight.
He jumped off the bricks to discover that Jiu Shen had at some point come to stand behind him and was looking at him with an expression of slight panic. Yu Yin rubbed his face, as quite a bit of sweat had accumulated there. He looked around, pretending nothing was wrong, before turning towards the direction the voice had come from.
“Who?”
He saw the young girl standing outside the yellow police tape.
***
“Your girlfriend?”
When Yu Yin walked out from the weedy patch, he saw that the young friend his family had adopted was also standing next to the girl, and so he tossed this question at him first.
“Hello, Ah Yu’s older brother. I am Ah Yu’s friend, my name is Fang Yi Xun.” The girl with large eyes and shoulder-length hair smoothly introduced herself before giving a delicate and cute smile. “We were originally going to take the bus to your place to play, but halfway there, Ah Yu saw your bike. As a result, we got off one stop early!”
The other person was wearing a familiar-looking high school uniform. “You are from our high school division?” Since the high school that shared the same name as his university was across the street from his school, he had seen this uniform way too much.
“That’s right. When Ah Yu said that you were a student from the university across the street, I felt that it must have been fate. Who would have imagined the world to be so small?” The high school girl happily answered.
“Wait, may I first ask when you two became so close with each other?”
After hearing the young girl constantly call Yu “Ah Yu”, Yu Yin, who had never imagined that the violet-eyed devil would have any close acquaintances around here, turned to glance at the boy.
Yu pushed at his glasses and shifted his gaze.
“Ah, Ah Yu didn’t tell you guys? Really…we met at the library quite a while ago. In the beginning, I only noticed him because Ah Yu was always reading books in their original texts. So I asked him to teach me English, and now we’re like this!” Fang Yi Xun replied while blinking her pretty eyes. She grabbed the hand of the boy that was trying to run away and hide.
“English?” Yu Yin suspiciously glanced at Yu and saw that he was indeed carrying a bunch of thick books in an alien language. Yu Yin crossed his arms and said, “So you were planning on taking the entrance exam to transfer into the school across from mine?” He knew of this strange matter, but he hadn’t imagined the brat’s target to be so close. Yu hesitated for a moment before nodding.
“Please give us lots of guidance!” The girl said while holding up a peace sign with her other hand.
“Eh…I am in your care,” Yu Yin awkwardly smiled back, inwardly feeling that he wouldn’t really be able to deal with any current high school girls.
He hadn’t imagined that Yu would match up with this type.
“Then we won’t bother you any longer. We’ll head back and grab something to eat first,” the girl hooked her arms together with Yu’s and pulled at him directly to instantly drag him away.
Yu Yin wasn’t sure if he was mistaken or not, but it seemed as if that glasses-wearing little devil had shot him another glance before being pulled away.
That girl gave him a strange feeling.
He couldn’t describe it with words. She was too friendly, and she had left so quickly that it made him feel caught unprepared.
“Ah Yin, what’s the matter?” Since he couldn’t intervene earlier, Jiu Shen only walked over after the two youths had run off.
Yu Yin didn’t know whether he was asking about the wall just now, or whether he was asking about Yu. He tugged at his hair and decided to refocus his thoughts back on the matter at hand. “Hey, what was the victim’s cause of death?”
“Huh?” Jiu Shen took a few steps back. “What did you see just now?”
“Answer me first.” Yu Yin narrowed his eyes.
He felt like he could still hear that strange gurgling noise.
“Um…at the moment, no major problems have been found. Based on the initial investigation, we think that it was probably a robbery turned murder. Since the victim showed a large amount of resistance, the possibility that the murder was accidental cannot be eliminated.” They had encountered many such cases before, where most of the victims ended up getting severely harmed the more they fought back.
“Would an unplanned scheme be like this…” Yu Yin ignored the nervous officer next to him and thought back to the thing he had just seen. Although their gazes had only come into contact briefly, he could feel its intense malice. It was different from Chen Yong Hao; it wasn’t that it did not have emotion or a sense of being banished, but rather the feeling of pure hatred and rejection.
As if anyone that infringed on her territory would be dragged in by her.
Are the dead normally like this?
He thought those that were mistakenly killed would mostly be more on the resentful side.
Did it directly turn into an earthbound spirit?
Yu Yin shook the ridiculous manhua term out of his head and patted the police investigator next to him on the shoulder. “Jiu Shen-Gē, I think that if you guys are really planning on handling this case, it would be best for you to reserve a spirit recovery service. That’s my recommendation.” He really felt this would be the best. Although his uncle was a realist, his subordinates were not. That thing’s temperament was already very clear. Continuing to work here would probably result in quite a few accidents.
After hearing Yu Yin’s words, Jiu Shen began to truly consider ways to push his colleagues over here to their deaths…no, to substitute for his position. “Ah Yin…is there something strange there?” Although he felt that the presence of a ghost was already strange enough.
“If you say strange…it seems as if she can’t speak!” Yu Yin scratched his head. He felt that the choking sound was definitely on the weirder side.
“So you really did see a ghost!” Jiu Shen immediately turned to run away and get some distance from this place.
“Oi! Weren’t you the one who called me here to look? Bastard!”
“But I didn’t want you to actually see anything…” He really wanted to ask his mom to introduce him to a temple for a spirit recovery, but his superior had already warned his family.
Sigh, being a subordinate is really difficult.
***
The girl let out a melodious laugh.
After they had gotten some distance away from the sealed off area, she let go of her grip.
“Eh, your ‘brother’ is actually pretty good-looking.” Fang Yi Xun held her hands behind her back and spun around, the ends of her skirt fluttering upwardly slightly with the breeze. “I just helped you keep your secret. When exactly are you planning on registering for the entrance exam?”
Yu glanced at her and pulled his hand away to write on his touch-screen phone: “I’ll go this upcoming semester. If you bump into Yu Yin and the others, please don’t meddle with them.”
“Alright, you’re the one who told me to only come to you for help. But I’ll have to ask you to speed up a bit if possible. I feel like my senior sister has gotten weird recently…I don’t want her to encounter the same thing we did.” Fang Yi Xun wiped the fake cuteness from her expression and replaced it with a serious one. “Although we don’t blame you guys, it is still your duty to help me.”
They had met in the library.
Back then, Fang Yi Xun had just been looking for some pharmacology books. When she had walked into the original texts section, she had noticed another person also looking for pharmacology books there…although their statuses were different.
But she soon figured out who he was.
“Your dad killed the person I liked, but we were both harmed by the same thing. No matter what happens, you must help me with this matter.” The instant she had seen his violet eyes, she had realised his identity. Although the news had been blocked from giving out information, it was hard to not know him when living with her chatty family.
Yu was silent for a moment before he turned the phone screen towards her. “Even if you hadn’t come looking for me, I still would have found a way by myself.”
The two exchanged a glance before looking away again.
They were not friends.
The dim yellow sunlight flashed across the street one last time before the sky quickly darkened. The streetlamps immediately lit up as usual, one after another, stretching endlessly down the road.
Yu had no intentions of staying to chat and was just about to put away his phone before he suddenly saw the screen flicker a few times, as if under electrical interference.
“Ah, is something here?” Fang Yi Xun took out her own phone and saw that her screen was also flickering. Then, it suddenly went black for a brief moment, before it immediately returned to its original state.
Yu shook his head and automatically scanned the area, but he didn’t see any suspicious construction towers.
“So weird. Forget it, let’s go find a McDonald’s first. Since your brother is heading back, we can’t possibly go to your place to discuss things.” Fang Yi Xun put her phone away and quickly changed their original plans.
Yu nodded in what was basically equivalent to agreement as he continued to suspiciously look around.
Then, he saw it. On a balcony of the building next to them stood a long-haired woman. Her jet-black hair being blown about by the wind nearly blended in with the evening sky. From this angle, her face that was tilted upwards could not be seen.
What was strange was that the room behind that woman had no lights on.
“What are you dazing off at?” After walking forwards a bit, Fang Yi Xun noticed that the other person was not following behind. She turned back once more to question him and then noticed his line of sight. As a result, she raised her head up as well. “What are you looking at? There’s nothing up there…”
When Yu returned to his senses, he could no longer see the woman on the balcony either.
Instead, the lights inside were turned on. She had probably walked back inside.
It was a very old building that did not even have security guards.
The gloomy staircase was facing straight across from them. Next to them was a closed shop that had traces of night graffiti on it. There was also the words “For Rent” written in black ink on a piece of red paper hanging there.
For some unknown reason, this building gave off an eerie feeling.
The black upwards staircase had no lights turned on, which made it seem as if it had no end.
Fang Yi Xun shivered and subconsciously tugged at the person next to her to hurry up and move. “Stop looking, let’s leave quickly.”
This place was filled with yin, and she did not like it at all.
She had only managed to take one step before Yu, who had been standing in his original place, suddenly yanked her backwards with all his strength.
Before she had realised what was going on, Fang Yi Xun saw a black shadow appear on the ground. It instantly grew in size, and with a crash that split the silence of the street, the clean sound of something shattering could be heard as it fell in front of them.
A red flower pot was shattered to pieces, with dirt and a cactus plant all mixed up and spread across the ground.
Yu immediately lifted his head and saw two young children on the fourth or fifth floor laugh and run back into their room. “Damn kids—” Having also seen that the two kids had been the one carrying out the prank, Fang Yi Xun leapt up and shouted, “Stop right there, let’s see what your parents look like!” As she said this, she completely forgot about the eerie feeling from just now and all she wanted to do was charge up the stairs to reason with those people.
Yu, who was watching from the side, suddenly changed expressions. He immediately grabbed her hand and began to run forwards without looking back.
“Wait…wait let me first slaughter them…” Fang Yi Xun was reluctantly dragged to run away for quite a while before she could even really resist.
Only after running down two or three blocks did Yu let go of the girl’s hand, both of them gasping for air.
“What is going on, what happened just now?” Fang Yu Xin grumbled in complaint as she turned her head to look back in the direction of the building where the two kids had pulled the prank.
Then, she also noticed what was off about the place.
The rooms on the fourth and fifth floors underneath the sixth floor were completely dark. Both floors also had the “For Rent” signs on their windows, as well as some kind of price tag. A single glance was enough to tell that nobody had lived there for a long time.
Forget a cactus, even weeds wouldn’t be able to grow there.
And above that, on a certain floor’s balcony was a woman standing there and looking in their direction.
Fang Yi Xun swallowed hard, not daring to look anymore.
She turned her head and automatically grabbed the boy’s hand as she felt goosebumps rise all over her body with the chilly, evening breeze.
“Let’s hurry up and leave.”
This place really was weird.
